Description

INTRODUCTION The Medical Library Association's (MLA's) Task Force on Social Networking Software was created by President Mark E. Funk, AHIP, in May 2007 during MLA '07, MLA's annual meeting. The task force was charged with investigating issues relating to MLA's implementation of blogs, wilds, really simple syndication (RSS) feeds, and other social networking tools in order to accomplish President Funk's top presidential priority, upgrading the association's use of technology [1, 2]. The immediate goal was to improve communication and facilitate networking; the long-term goal was to evaluate individual social networking tools and make recommendations that could be used by association members, sections, committees, and task forces.
